Your Name

Darling Celia--
I am sure, over the years, you will hear about your Daddy's Mom.  I never personally knew her, but I know she has provided you with lots of Uncles and Aunts!  But, of all the children she gave birth to, the most important baby she ever presented to this world is your Daddy.

It will take you lots of years to understand the importance of your Daddy.  He will guide you all your life, helping you with decision big and small, and give you an understanding of what it means to be loved by a man.  Someday, you will go looking for a man just like your Daddy, one who loves his wife and his children and finds his family of origin very important.

Your Grandma Celia not only gave you a Daddy, she also left you with a name.  A good name.  A name that has a meaning and importance to who she was and who you are.  Her name was precious, just like yours is.

I discovered that your name means "heaven"!  Isn't that beautiful?  And, just before you were born, that is where your Grandma went:  to Heaven to live with God.  Someday, if you choose to ask Jesus into your heart, you'll go there and meet her.  What a reunion that will be!

Your name comes from the Latin word "caelum" and is a name used most popularly in Italian and Spanish cultures.  Since your Grandma has Spanish roots, your name connects you back to your heritage.  And a fine one it is.

God emphasizes the importance of a good name in the Bible by saying " A good name is more desirable than great riches; to be esteemed is better than silver or gold. Rich and poor have this in common: The LORD is the Maker of them all." (Proverbs 22:1-2)

And, while you have a beautiful name with a wonderful heritage, the most important name you'll have while you live on this Earth is "mine".  That is what God calls you (Isaiah 43:1) if you decide to make Christ your Savior someday.  And that is what I am praying for you.

In the glorious name of Jesus,
with my love and hope for your future,
Your Godmother,
Jill
