It is hard to believe that you are already big enough to be celebrating your first Christmas. My, how times flies!
I really wanted the “perfect” gift for you this Christmas and when I spotted this blanket, I knew it was the very thing designed to be yours.
The cross reminds me of Jesus, who has loved you even before the moment you were a tiny baby inside of your Momma (Jeremiah 1:5 “’Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart,’ says the Lord.”)
The color, red, reminds me of the sacrifice Jesus made for us on that very cross (The Book of Common Prayer, Holy Communion communication between minister and congregant: “The Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ, which was shed for thee, preserve thy body and soul unto everlasting life. Drink this in remembrance that Christ’s Blood was shed for thee, and be thankful.”)
The fact that this is a blanket, which you can wrap yourself in to keep warm, reminds me of how God promises to cover us and keep us from harm (Psalm 91:4 “The Lord will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.”)
I am so excited to watch you growing and blossoming and I am praying for you and looking forward to seeing you again sometime in 2012.
